The Male Skinny Jean Dilemma….”Can’t wear skinny jeans ’cause my knots don’t fit.”

The ongoing debate on whether heterosexual men can rock “skinny jeans,” ain’t going nowhere. Although Jay-Z’s knots are too big for skinny jeans, lots of celebrities, actors and rappers have relentlessly rocked ’em.

Thanks to J.Alexander , I peeped this article by Sachin Bhola @ AskMen.com about the skinny jean dilemma. Finally, someone’s answering who should and should not wear skinny jeans!

Bhola says, “Are skinny jeans for every guy? Hello no. It’s understandable that when the average 30-something sees the word “skinny” in clothing, he’s turned off. Maybe he thinks the look is too feminine, maybe he doesn’t have the emaciated frame to pull them off (some designers are now releasing a maximum waist size of 33 for men – yikes). Whatever the reason, skinny jeans are a no-go for him.

However, there is still takeaway value in the skinny jeans for men movement. Since most North American men tend to wear their clothes on the larger side of the fit continuum, the message here is to slim down. Not slim down to a legging-like jean (leave that extreme look for another market), but to wear slim, straight-cut jeans — something AskMen regularly endorses.

AskMen does not recommend skinny jeans for guys. However, we do acknowledge that some guys can pull off the look (hey, we’re fair like that). Because the look is so trend-driven, it works on guys who are younger than that 30-something I referenced, have skinny body types, and who live a lifestyle where this look makes sense — cough, hipsters, cough — even if it’s not our thing.”

What do I think? Initially, I was apprehensive about the male ‘skinny jean,’ but it’s slowly growing on me. I don’t like any man, boy or infant in the typical ‘skinny’ jean that looks a bit anorexic. As far as a denim look, I prefer a man in a fitted jean (on occasions), no sagging included. Now, enuff of this fashion shit. Its beyond me.
