Written by thejasminebrand in Blog

The queen of soul, Aretha Franklin, who has had recent health issues, and has lost a significant amount of weight, has remained mum about both her condition and how she’s dropped those pounds. Regarding the rumor that she had gastric bypass she shared, “Definitely not – and would not. I heard that [rumor]. I said, ‘That is crazy. But it definitely was not the bariatric or, what is it, gastric by- – Yeah, I can’t even tell you the correct name of it. It’s really not necessary to talk about one’s personal medical [health].”

In a two-part interview with Access Hollywood, that airs on Monday, the 68-year-old further explained,“The doctor did say to me, he said, ‘Mrs. Franklin, you are going to feel better than you have felt maybe in 10 or 15 years. The surgery that you had is going to add 15 years to your life.’ “

So what do you think? Does Aretha owe us an explanation of how she dropped those pounds? Folks got all pissy when Star Jones was mum about her procedure. Thoughts?

Hecky naw. She’s like 100 years old. You don’t ask old folks their personal business.

    It’s absolutely no one’s business!

  3. Denise says:

I believe she should be truthful. It’s not really getting into her personal business because the change in her appearance was so dramatic. Unfortunately, if you choose a career that involves the public, you will be asked questions. She probably had gastric banding instead.
