Woman’s Afro Gets Strip-Searched at Airport

Written by thejasminebrand in Blog

In, “You’re Kidding Me News,” yesterday, Isis Brantley, a Dallas based hairstylist was chased down by Atlanta airport security for having an Afro. Apparently ATL security had reason to believe that her hair “could hide prohibited items” and needed to be searched thoroughly. Security prodded and poked through her scalp to search for weapons. The 53 year old woman explained, “I was outraged…. I was humiliated.”

ATL TSA (security) had confirmed the incident and validated why it was necessary,

“Additional screening may be required for clothing, headwear or hair where prohibited items could be hidden.”

Was it an unnecessary invasion of space or do you agree that TSA should be allowed to enforce non-traditional security measures, in order to keep travelers safe? Source
