Whitney Houston’s Memorabilia Sold For $80,000

Over the weekend, in Beverly Hills, an auction was held featuring the memorabilia of the late Whitney Houston. Celebrity auctioneer, Darren Julien, auctioned off  a total of 13 items, bringing in $80,187 from bidders in the gallery, phone, and online. Some of the big sellers at the auction were:
  • A bustier worn by Houston sold for $18,750
  • A grey velvet gown worn to Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party in 1996 went for $11,250
  • A plum velvet dress sold for $7,500
  • Pearl drop earrings Houston wore in “The Bodyguard” sold for $2,812
  • A vest she wore in ‘The Bodyguard’ went for $3,437
  • Black and gold pants outfit bought for $2,125
Julien explained:
“Interest in collectibles related to Houston has skyrocketed since her death on Feb. 11… Most of the items sold Saturday as part of the Hollywood Legends series were provided by the Grammy winner’s friends and family in the weeks since she died. What we have is all we’re going to have from Whitney Houston. That makes her memorabilia sought after by high end collectors and fans.”
More items from Whitney Houston, including 30 dresses, will be auctioned off this June as part of Julien’s Music Icon’s series.
