Numbers.Don’t.Lie. Floyd Mayweather Guaranteed to Make $32 Million

Written by thejasminebrand in Blog

Wondering how much money Floyd Mayweather Jr. will make on his Saturday night fight with Miguel Cotto? The Nevada Athletic Commission reports that Mayweather is guaranteed a cool $32 million, the largest guarantee for a boxer in history. But please note the word ‘guarantee’. In addition to the $32 mill, he can bring in even more by his share of the pay-per-view profits.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer explained:

“It’s the biggest guarantee ever in the history of the sport…Nobody ever had a guarantee bigger. Floyd is in a league of his own. I think that this shows it again.”

Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather’s closest adviser, adds:

“This is just a testament to his star power….Floyd Mayweather is a one-man walking conglomerate. Of course, this is exciting. Over the last 12 months he is the highest-paid athlete in sports.”

According to ESPN, during an interview on Tuesday, he estimated that at the end of the day, he could make around $100 million. Meanwhile, Cotto is guaranteed $8 million, along with Pay-Per-View earnings. [ESPN, AP, Yahoo]
