Rocsi Diaz Denies Dating Eddie Murphy & Is Trying Her Hand At DJ’ing

Rocsi Diaz is known for hosting BET’s “106 & Park”, along with Terrence J for the past few years. Recently, the two have announced that they’re leaving the show to venture out into new careers. In between all of this, the young host has also been romantically linked to Eddie Murphy. Rocsi was recently interviewed on “Name Check” for the New York Post to discuss her next moves. Peep the excerpts.

On how long she’s been hosting “106 & Park”:

“It’s been seven amazing years.”

On how she started doing broadcast:

“I was a radio personality when I first started. I interned for a local television-radio station in New Orleans, LA. That’s kinda how I got my feel docking tapes, and labeling them, and going into the library…It was a great learning experience and foundation.”

On how she crossed over into television:

“A great friend of mine, his name is Ludacris, he’s a famous rapper turned actor now. He would always tell me, ‘Rocsi you don’t have a face for radio.’ When the opportunity came and BET was doing a national search, as they’re doing right noe for the new host of “106”, he told me ‘you should go do it.’ If it wasn’t for his inspiration, I probably would’ve never got in that line and thought that I could do it. And he doesn’t even know that to this day.”

On leaving “106 & Park” and embarking on a new career:

“I’m still going out for other hosting opportunities as well. I think that in this day and age of Hollywood and entertainment, you kinda have to be a multi-hyphenate…I love radio, I love television hosting, and acting is just a new chapter in my life. I was DJ’ing as well. I’ve been able to finish two films in the last year.

On meeting President Obama:

“I actually met President Obama when he was Senator Obama, and this is when I was doing radio in Chicago. There’s this big parade called the Bud Billiken parade, which is like a parade that amps the kids for school. And I will never ever ever forget that Reverend Jesse Jackson Jr. comes up to me and he’s like ‘Rocsi I wanna introduce you to our first African American president. This is Senator Barack Obama.’…So when I saw his name on the ballot and running, I was just in awe…It’s the epitome of chasing your dreams.”

On being on a yacht with Eddie Murphy:

“I’ve never been on a yacht with Eddie Murphy… I go to beaches all the time… I’ve never been on a beach with Eddie… We’re good friends.”

Do we believe her?
