Tyler Perry continues to give back. The 43-year-old producer and movie maker, who’s debuting two new shows on OWN, surprised middle school students in Ohio by showing up at a musical concert and donating $100,000 to help student athletes in the city’s South-Western schools. According to The Columbus Dispatch, he was drawn to the school after watching a segment on “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” that aired on HBO in September. He saw a segment about a Finland Middle School teacher named Mary Mulvany. She was starting a foundation to raise scholarship money to cover fees and hearing about he efforts inspired him to dig into his pockets. Recently, Perry showed up at a musical concert and donated $100,000 to help student athletes in the city’s South-Western schools. Perry says he wants to sponsor as many children as possible and wants part of the money to go toward Finland and some to the foundation.
