As expected, Kelly Rowland’s very personal song, ‘Dirty Laundry‘, pulls at her heart strings, even when she performs it live.

The track, produced by The Dream, was released a little over two weeks ago, and gives an account of the private side of her life. In the song, the singer is emotional and confronts her deepest thoughts on the record, including being envious of Destiny’s Child group member Beyonce’s success and being in an abusive relationship. In an interview, she explained:

It was very emotional. It took me days to record. I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the song, not sob through it. I always hope that my music can inspire someone, the same way other artists inspire me.  Dream said, ‘I want to write you a record so that people will know exactly who you are, underneath it all.’

And over the weekend, Kelly performed the track in Silver Spring, MD to a packed house. Towards the end of the song, the singer has an emotional moment, shedding a few tears and wiping her face before continuing. Check it out.

Awwww Kelly my heart goes out to you! I know it is hard to release things but victory comes when you can let them go. Kelly will be fine. I am glad she made the song…this is her healing process.

  3. Yeah, I cried. The song is beautiful, Kelly is beautiful. Vulnerability is the greatest gift you can give someone, and she shared it with the world.
