Days after the release of her compilation album on her record label Saint Heron, Solange Knowles stopped by The Angie Martinez Show to chop it up. The 27-year-old singer dished on having her sister Beyonce and hubby Jay Z hang out with her at her home in New Orleans (without NOLA natives swarming them), how she’s raising her 9-year-old son Juelz (he’s an aspiring rapper, who disciplines occasionally with a light-weight spanking LOL) and even recounts how her sister & Kelly Rowland rescued her from a bully in the 8th grade. Peep the excerpt and watch the full interview below.
On if she’s ever pulled the ‘Beyonce is My Sister Card':
When I was in 7th or 8th grade, I used the card because their was this one kid who was so obnoxious. He was constantly kinda bullying, doing the most. Actually my mom came and was a chaperone on a field trip, called her the B word this kid was outta control. I wrote petitions to get this kid out of school like really couldn’t stand this kid. His name was Brandon, I remember that..So one day and ‘No,No,No’ had just came out and I did say like, “my sister’s gonna come here and you’re gonna be really be surprised who she is.” Cause I had been telling my sister and Kelly “ya’ll gotta come check this kid.” Of course, he is not paying attention to anything that I say. But they pulled up and I will never forget the face, that Brandon made. I can’t even recreate it. It was just like they were coming to beat him up. But it was Destiny’s Child coming to beat him up. So it was a really wise range of emotions and I did love it so much.
