It’s her 14th album and Mariah Carey is taking a different direction with how it’s released. The 45-year-old songbird, who has released an endless line of #1 hits, is inspired by Beyonce’s ‘surprise’ album. In an interview with Billboard, she reveals that she won’t be releasing individual singles and doesn’t plan to release the album’s title beforehand. Check out a few excerpts below.
On not promoting the name of her album before its released:

I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title.

On not releasing individual singles before her album drops:

You would think I would be all about the singles-driven situation, and I am in a way, but with this particular album I want my fans to hear it as a body of work. This is my life since we last left off. Just picture a dot dot dot, and then here’s the album.

On this not being her last album:

I will always make music. When I said it could be my last, that’s because tomorrow’s not promised to anyone.

Hinting at new TV plans, post American Idol:

I have another project that I’m so very excited about that’s finally coming to fruition.

What do you think of Mariah’s approach for her new album? Will it backfire or highly likely fans will support her?
