[EXCLUSIVE] Tyler Perry Urges Judge to Speed Up Lawsuit: 8K Jobs Are At Risk

In effect, MILRA confirmed an exclusive franchise or property interest in the Ft. McPherson property to Perry and [Tyler Perry Studios] on a non-bid, non-request for proposal basis, with no advance public notice to give UES and other potential property developers an opportunity to compete for this real estate development. These acts and omissions of MILRA in this regard were arbitrary and capricious government conduct.

Perry has fired back at the allegations in the lawsuit claiming it is not true. He states that they deny any wrong doing in the deal made for the land. The docs note that they did not receive any special treatment nor did they steal any business opportunities from UES.

Perry stated that all the allegations are nonsense and he is asking the court to dismiss the lawsuit against him.

Then on September 5th, Tyler Perry filed docs pleading with the court to expedite the court hearing. He explains that his purchase of the land is set to close on October 15th and that the legal battle casts a cloud over the ability for the army base to deliver the property over to him.

Perry explains that the closing of the base resulted in the loss of 6K jobs for the surrounding areas, but if the property sale closed and he builds his movie studio he can produce as many as 8K jobs over time for the cities around it. He says he has proposed to pay $30 million for the land unlike UES who gave a proposal of $5.9 million.

He is pleading with the court to speed up the hearing on his motion to dismiss, so they can throw out the lawsuit and the sale of the land can go through without problems.
