Wendy Williams Talks Leaving Radio, Producing Aaliyah Movie [VIDEO]

doing the Aaliyah movie, this is what we need to see. We need to see how she met R Kelly, were they really in love, and what does your daddy say when you’re 15 and bring home a 28 year old man? How does she meet up with Missy and Timbaland? I need to see all these stars. After she was no longer with R Kelly, how did that thing go with Damon Dash? What we’re not showing you is the tastelessness of a plane crash and we’re not going into deep some of the things that would ruffle the families feathers. The movie is based on a book by a gentlemen by the name of Chris Farley. Chris was the music editor at Time Magazine many years ago. Very sensible man, married with children, really took a liking to Aaliyah and decided to write the book.

Big Boy: Now when you bring those things up saying that certain things need to be done for this movie, you weren’t originally attached to the movie, you were just talking to your camera audience.

Wendy William: I’m looking at the camera like “Lifetime don’t mess this movie up, this is what you need to do.” Like three days later, no lie, the phone at Wendy Williams production, ‘We want you to be on board.’ BOOM!

Big Boy: So are you an executive producer on that?

Wendy Williams: Yes, we shot it this summer up in Toronto. A lovely girl by the name on Alexandra Shipp plays Aaliyah and the R Kelly character is spot on. I mean the story is told from a gentlemen who wrote the book, not in a scandalous way, but in a she’s the princess of R&B at the time. Her life was cut short at 21 or 22 years old. She was discovered on Star Search, that was our generations American Idol, she didn’t even win.
