(EXCLUSIVE) Miami Heat Star Mario Chalmers Loses Legal Battle to Lower $10K a Month Child Support

The final order in the case stated that Chalmers did have an increase in his NBA salary from $70K to $400K a month.

The judge explained that since Brittany was the primary caregiver and Mario had only seen his daughter a few times over the years, he ordered the support to be increased to $10K a month. The judge also said he hopes that Mario will become a father and be involved in his daughter’s life. Brittany was also awarded full decision making power for their daughter in regards to schooling, health and medical– without Mario having any say in the matters.

Then months later, Mario headed to the Florida Appeals Court in an attempt to have them reverse the judges decision to increase the child support to 10k a month. He argued that the order was made incorrectly and the judge ruled wrong. Brittany fought the appeal and explained the order was made properly and wanted the child support increase to stay in place.

Then on January 9th, the Appeals Court came back with their decision and shut down Mario in his attempt to overturn the previous order. They explain that they have looked over the case and the decision … and they are not modifying the 10k a month support or any other decisions of the original order. The only thing they are sending back to the previous judge to clarify whether he decided that if Mario had any power in decision making. The case was closed the same day and Mario lost any chance of lowering his child support payments. See the exclusive court docs.
