Lil’ Wayne Talks Hurricane Katrina & Fatherhood + Hot Boys & Drake Perform At ‘Lil Weezyana’ [VIDEO]

As a result of Hurricane Katrina, Wayne talks about the Lil WeezyAna Fest that he plans to put on for the city the day before the 10th anniversary of the hurricane on August 28th. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Tha Carter Fund, which helps provide support for after school programs for underprivileged youth.

He also discusses some of the artists that he intends to bring to the stage and how he came up with the whole idea explaining,

There will be a Hot Boyz Reunion. I’m bringing out Jubilee put it like that. This whole experience it’s mind boggling to me. I still don’t believe its real. I came up with the idea a few months ago. I told Taz, ‘You ever thought of me being able to do my own festival in New Orleans?’ He’s like, ‘What you waiting for?’

Everyone keeps laughing when I say this but I didn’t think I was that type of artist. Meaning that I didn’t think I was big enough to do some kind of festival. Obviously I get the idea from Drizzy, how he does the OVO Fest.

Being fatherhood and what it’s like having a 16-year-old daughter:

I’m just letting you know now! You come knocking on my door talking bout you tryna’ bring her on some date. And curfew is so enforced. I’m coming to the door with the bat, ‘What’s up? Don’t Lil Wayne me. I’m Mr. Carter today homie.’ But nah, it’s awesome cause at this age the daughters they kinda’ be away from they mama and comes closer to daddy. Cause this the age where daddy don’t know what’s going on.

Daddy just know how to say, ‘Yeah baby, okay baby, don’t worry about it.’ And this the age where mama knows exactly what’s going on. So she can’t bring nothing to mama. She can bring it to daddy cause daddy just gone give a general answer. She runs straight to me.
