(EXCLUSIVE) Dr. Dre SHUT DOWN in Battle Over Beats Headphones w/ Ex-Business Partner in Court

Fast forward to earlier this year, Beats sued Lamar claiming he was falsely advertising he was a co-founder of the headphone company along side Dr. Dre and Iovine. Lamar had launched his own headphone company and was promoting his line by stating he was the co-founder of Beats. They demanded any injunction against Lamar from using their brand to promote himself and his new headphone line.

Then in November (2014), Lamar fired back at his old business partners claiming unfair for them to claim he is not a co-founder of Beats. He explained that both Dr. Dre and Iovine admitted in the 2006 lawsuit that he had a role in designing the headphones they now sell. He says that it is uncontested he was a part of the team and nobody denied it back in 2006.

Lamar also said he has brought new claims against Dre and Iovine in California Court due to them not paying him his 4% royalty on all the headphones they sell. He demanded the entire lawsuit be thrown out along with a court order allowing him to describe himself as a co-founder or Beats and Dre and Iovine be awarded NOTHING.

Then on August 31st, the federal court judge came back with his decision in the case. The judge states the settlement agreement the parties reached back in 2006 lawsuit is clear that Lamar was a partner in the business when it was being launched. Therefore, the order grants Lamar’s motion to dismiss Dr. Dre and Jimmy’s lawsuit and denied the music moguls demand for an injunction against his ex-business partner.
