Hip-hop legend Big Daddy Kane stopped by The Wendy Williams Show to talk about his upcoming movie, “Exposed” and performed his hit song, Raw. He also opened up about his friendship with Jay Z . Wendy asked Big Daddy Kane if he feels old when people call him a legend or icon and to this he says:

Oh no, I think that’s beautiful. I think we need to pay homage and respect to our artist in that fashion. I think ‘old school’ is a dangerous word. Don’t get me wrong, my music, that is old school hip-hop but when you refer to an artist that way, it kind of puts an expiration date on them, you know? That’s just my view.

While talking about his relationship with Jay Z, Bid Daddy Kane told Wendy, that Jay Z was never his hype-man, which he has read in past articles. He also cleared the air on if he got Jay Z his first record deal.

Oh yea, back in the day. We did some studio stuff and I tried to get him a deal. What I did, when I went on tour, I took him with me. I had toured with Patti LaBelle, that was the first time I had seen an artist do an outfit change, so I wanted to do that in hip-hop. In the middle of the show, I would go backstage and change outfits and while I was backstage, I would bring Jay-Z out and let him perform, then I’d change outfits and come back out.

They still have a good relationship to this day,

We don’t talk that much but he still shows love.
