Ashley Graham Doesn’t Like Term “Plus Sized”

Ashley Graham isn’t a fan of folk using the term “plus sized.”  Graham, who has made history in the modeling industry as the first curvy woman in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, feels that the term is divisive.

I think the word ‘plus-sized’ is so divisive to women. I think that when you use the word ‘plus-size,’ you’re putting all these women into a category.

She says that false stereotypes are often associated with the label.

‘You don’t eat well. You don’t work out. You couldn’t care less about your body. You’re insecure. You have no confidence.’ And that is none of this.

Graham further explains her point by using her second appearance in the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2016 — when she was one of three cover stars — as proof.

Sports Illustrated decided to have curvy women not only in their magazine but on the cover of their magazine. Now that means size diversity is here, and it’s real, and it’s not a trend.

Do you find the term plus size offensive?

Well, I’m damn sure not gonna call her skinny and I for hell will not call her thick. She needs to take Plus Size….otherwise, all I have for her is FAT.

    • Sheri Edwards

Damn ShelbyMoore, why you hating? She’s gorgeous and maybe you just jealous. She getting paid big time.

      • ShelbyMoore

Ok…I’m jealous because I’m not over weight….you’re right -___- You don’t know me or what I’m being paid and, your ass is super LAME for counting other people’s money. Figure out how to get your bank account positive. Okay!

By the way you say that I’m “hating”, I guess I may have hit a nerve….are you one of those over weight women who uses the term “thick” to make your fat bacon eating ass feel better?

Women don’t need to be labeled at all. She is not fat. She is just not petite. And she looks very healthy and like she takes care of herself. She is very beautiful and that’s all that matters.

Ppl find anything to complain about. She made up her own definition of “plus size.” Smh.

  • Sheri Edwards

Oh my bad Shelbymoore, I didn’t realize just how ignorant you really are. You opened your mouth and removed all doubt.
