Jordan Peele Makes Oscars History, Kobe Bryant Wins + Winner List

Jordan Peele has made history. Sunday night, he won an Oscar for best original screenplay for “Get Out.” He is now the first black screenwriter to receive the honor. In his speech, Peele thanked the people

who raised my voice and let me make this movie.

Peele and his film were nominated for a total of four awards, including best picture. This year, Peele made history, becoming the first black director to receive nominations in the writing, directing, and best picture categories for his directorial debut. Kobe Bryant also won an Oscar for “Dear Basketball,” the animated short film about his retirement from the NBA which he produced and wrote. See the complete list of winners below.
