Charlamagne Addresses Old Clips Of Him Admitting To Drugging A Woman & Having Sex w/ Her + Hitting A Woman When He Was A Teen

As you recall, authorities have decided that the 2001 rape case against Charlamagne Tha God will not be reopened due to DNA results clearing him of the sexual assault that took place at his home. Despite his name being cleared, the radio personality has been facing criticism after damaging audio from his podcast and previous interviews resurfaced.

In a 2015 clip from Charlamagne the God and Andrew Schultz‘s podcast The Brilliant Idiots,  Charlamagne admits to giving a woman Spanish Fly and sleeping with her while she was incoherent.

He is now on a mission to clear his name and issued a statement regarding the three-year-old clip, reiterating that the sex he mentioned on the podcast was consensual, as he and the young lady went to a sex shop and purchased the Spanish Fly together.

I posted this today because I wanted to address some clips that have been floating around from the podcast, as well as VladTV, where I failed to have productive mature conversations around issues that demand respect. Back in 2015, I attempted to have a dialogue about rape culture with an emphasis on the role men play…I can honestly say that I communicated that all wrong. For the record, in 1997 I was having consensual sex with a young lady.

Charlamagne continues,

I was looking at some comments from rape survivors who were triggered by that conversation, and I have to apologize to y’all because that was not my intention. I’ve told people on this podcast numerous times to avoid any gray areas…If she is incoherent in any way, leave her alone. I want to stress that I didn’t take advantage of anyone, and I want to apologize to anyone who was triggered by that story.

In a 2013 Vlad TV clip, Charlamagne was discussing the domestic abuse situation between Chris Brown and Rihanna and admitted to being 16-years-old and hitting his then girlfriend. The radio jock addressed that as well. He states,

There’s no legitimate reason for me to do what I did, but I did it. I immediately regretted it. I also made a mistake by generalizing that all men have put their hands on a woman at some point. I’m not gonna speak for everyone else, I’m only going to speak for myself. You will hear more from me over the coming week and really for the rest of my life on the issue. I’m grateful for the women creating space for women and survivors…I look forward to using my platform more responsibly.

What are your thoughts on CthaGod’s statement?
