Michelle Obama Fans React To High Ticket Prices For Book Tour

Former First Lady Will Have An “Intimate Conversation” With Readers About Her Memoir, Becoming.

Michelle Obama will be going on tour for her memoir, Becoming. The book is set to be in stores November 13, the same day her tour is scheduled to kick off. What’s being promoted is an “intimate conversation”, which allows fans to see the former First Lady up close and personal. When tickets went on sale to the public Friday, some Twitter users were taken aback by how much Obama was charging for the 10-city book tour.

Reportedly, tickets are going between $30 to $3,000, with the prices varying between cities. For instance, the lowest price of a ticket during her Dallas, TX stop is $855, while in Inglewood, CA  the lowest is $125. Deborah Speer, editor of concert magazine Pollstar, explained why the prices might have such a spike.

You don’t see it every day, but she’s not a typical author. Michelle Obama is kind of a rock star herself.

Fans who pay are paying top dollar for the VIP tickets and will be able to get a pre-show photo opportunity, a signed book, and other “VIP” gifts. She is scheduled to stop in her hometown, Chicago, IL for the kick off and will be making two stops in Washington, DC and Brooklyn, NY. Obama plans to donate 10% of the of ticket sales to charity.
