August Aslina Jokes With Fans About Healthy Increase

August Alsina quietly shared new music, in lieu of a clip from what appears to be a music video on the horizon. The anticipated new video will be the singer’s latest offering since his buzzed 2015 R&B album “This Thing Called Life.” Over the summer, the southern bred singer emerged in the spotlight after a three year hiatus from music on Jada Pinkett-Smith’s Facebook Watch digital talk show, Red Table Talk. During his appearance, Alsina was noticed to be looking healthier. With some revealing wardrobe for his new video, fans are paying attention to the hearty increase. One user questioned,

He doesn’t look the same anymore or is it just me?

Another chimed in,

He getting a little husky! Yassss!!

While one more pondered,

Okay but fat where?

The track samples lyrics from one of Kanye West’s latest, “Wouldn’t Leave,” off of his solo studio album “Ye.” After sharing the video, the 25-year-old reflected on the reaction of him gaining a few pounds.

Me sitting back watching some of y’all say I’m fat now in my last post…(while I chew on some more food.) Y’all really tryna fat shame da boy *jokes, jokes.* Anyway, I’m [about to] run to the fridge, y’all want anything?

August Alsina, Jada Pinkett-Smith

During his time on Smith’s show, Alsina revealed why he was hidden from the limelight for three years. Explaining how he overcame his addiction to the prescription drug Percocet, and how the “Girls Trip” actress helped him see the error of his ways.

I was on tour or something and you called me and you literally broke down about it. That was the thing. To feel your emotion and to hear you bawling. That was a reality check for me. I was like, ‘Wow, if someone else can love you that much that it hurts them, why doesn’t it bother you that you are actually hurting yourself?’ That moment really changed the trajectory of my life.
