Ayesha Curry Puts Her Marriage Before Her Kids – When Our Relationship Is Good, The Kids Are Happy

Ayesha Curry Opens Up About Family Life, Her Cover Girl Line, and Being a Warrior’s Wife

America’s favorite basketball wife is one of the busiest women in the business! Ayesha Curry is the wife of Golden State Warriors frontman, Steph Curry, and mother to their three children – Riley, Ryan, and Canon. But, family life isn’t Ayesha’s whole life. She’s also a chef, restaurateur, and Cover Girl spokeswoman! She opened up about all of these things in a recent interview with Hello Giggles.

Ayesha Curry revealed one surprising aspect of she and Steph Curry’s marriage:

“I want to say that we’re good communicators, but maybe that wouldn’t be a surprise. But that’s what keeps our bond strong. Even when we don’t want to talk about something, we talk about it. Especially from my perspective, I’m a lay it all out on the table kind of girl, so whether it’s a tough conversation or an easy conversation, I never have a tight lip. I tell it like it is and I tell it straight, and ultimately I think it keeps things a lot better for us.”

On advice they’ve received from her in-laws:

“…the biggest thing, both of our parents are still married and have been married for 30-plus years, and the one thing that they both shared with us—some through learning it the hard way, some through just making sure that they do it—is just making sure that we put each other first, even before the kids, as tough as that sounds. Putting ourselves first, and making sure that we make time for date nights and for each other. That’s been very important, as hard as it is. Because when you become a parent, you want to put your kids first, and we do, but we do it second to our relationship. Because ultimately, when our relationship is good, the kids are happy and they’re thriving and our family life is good. We have to put that into perspective and realize that it’s not us being selfish, it’s making sure we set a strong foundation.”

The first moment she knew she wanted to marry Steph:

“I think it’s when I realized how humble and selfless he was. And honestly he’s so funny, I don’t think a lot of people know how funny he is. When I realized I could just let go and laugh and be myself around him, and that even with everything he had going on in his life at the time he was still this humble, kind, generous, gentle person, I knew that’s who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. And then I have two younger brothers, and he would come over to my house, play video games with them late into the night, and at the time one of my brothers was still in high school and the other was in middle school, and he would come over as a college student and just hang out with them. That was so special to me, that he was willing to do that. I was like, ‘He’ll make a great dad.’ And he has!”

On one of the Curry family’s holiday traditions:

“I love Thanksgiving, but I wish I could skip through Thanksgiving and that whole month and just move right on to Christmas! We wear matching pajamas, and I just love the holiday spirit around Christmastime.”

On why her new Cover Girl line of nude shades works for everyone:

“I love bold lips. But honestly, most mornings I’m taking my kids to school and it’s not the first thing somebody at my school wants to see at 8:30 in the morning. So I feel like nude lips are just universal, you feel so polished and clean and it has this subtlety to it…There’s seven shades of this nude lip, so no matter your skin tone or your undertone, there’s the perfect shade for you.”
