Wendy Williams Allegedly Hired Private Investigator, Thinks Husband’s Affair Went On For 15 Years

Wendy Williams might not say much publicly about her estranged husband and speculation that he had a baby with his mistress recently, but according to reports she had no problem confronting Kevin Hunter about the rumors. The daytime talk show host, who filed for divorce from Hunter on Thursday, reportedly had suspicions about him cheating. She allegedly hired a private investigator to look into it and once he was caught, she confronted him. One insider said

“The split is definitely due to Kevin’s ongoing infidelity and that his mistress recently welcomed their child. Wendy had hired a private investigator and confronted him. He confessed to everything three weeks ago.”

The drama comes just weeks after Williams told her live studio audience that she had been living in a sober house.

The insider added that her issues with Hunter certainly put pressure on her journey to sobriety.
“All of the recent drama put a huge strain on Wendy and caused her to struggle with her sobriety as she did everything she could to try and save their marriage.”
Still, making the decision to file wasn’t an easy one.
“The decision to split was terribly hard for her, but she’s regaining her health. She decided she needed to finally put herself first.”
As for the alleged affair, Williams is reportedly telling her close friends and family that she was completed blindsided. But once she dug into the alleged situation, she discovered it had been going on for more than a decade. A second insider said,
“Wendy is telling people she had no idea he had been having an affair, but when she found out the details, it turned out he had been seeing the woman he had a baby with for 15-16 years. That made her realize it was time to move forward with her life. Seek treatment and move on. She’s not taking him back. It’s hard after being married for so long and having a family together, to be able to move forward. But she realized she had to open her eyes to a bad marriage. So many stick around when they should get out.”
Williams and Hunter were married for 21 years before she filed. They also have a son, Kevin Jr., together, who is 19.

Hunter spoke on the drama for the first time Tuesday, releasing the following statement:

“28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world. I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally. I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans. I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs. No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine. I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you.”

As for if she’s open to finding love again, Williams answered that on her show. She first told a guest, model Christie Brinkley, “No!” but then confessed, “I don’t know.”
Brinkley then said she could help Williams find a divorce lawyer, but Williams said she already has one. Check out their comments at the 8:20 mark.
