Ariana Grande’s Rumored $8 Mill Coachella Payday Allegedly Doubles Beyonce’s

As fans are still recovering from her show stopping, headlining set at this year’s Coachella, superstar Ariana Grande has another reason to celebrate—her alleged hefty $8 million-dollar payday she raked in for the performance.

Beyonce

Reportedly, this amount is the biggest ever paid to a female headliner and doubles what Beyoncé was paid in 2018.

Ariana Grande high energy debut performance at this year’s Coachella, was dubbed Arichella. Grande made history as the youngest female headliner ever and the highest-paid female headliner. During her set, the chart-topping pop star brought of music vets *NSYNC, Diddy, Mase and Nicki Minaj. Her 26-song setlist features a multitude of her most popular hits and contained costume changes, eye-opening stage sets and more. Even through technical issues during her performance with Minaj, Grande managed to sail through like a pro. She’s also only the fifth woman in the festival’s history to headline in 19 years.

By contrast, 2018’s first black female headliner, Beyoncé, was reportedly only paid around $4million for her performance, which has recently been turned into the Netflix documentary Homecoming.

Although her Coachella set went viral and her fans continued to obsess over the performance for months after it occurred, Grande’s payday easily doubles Beyoncé’s. Beyoncé reportedly was paid around the same range as past headliners Lady Gaga, Kendrick Lamar and Radiohead, who were each paid between three and four million.

For a little clarity on the financial make-up of Coachella, here’s a breakdown:

“Each weekend of Coachella, over 100,000 attendees descend on Indio Valley, generating a lot of money. In 2016, Coachella and Stagecoach saw $704 million in economic activity, and in 2017, Coachella festival alone grossed $114.6 million. Needless to say, the performers can earn hefty paychecks for their acts.”

Rap’s reigning queen, Cardi B, is also not fairing nearly as well financially from Coachella as Grande either. She recently revealed that she’s only making $70,000 for both weekends she’s performing. Since she booked Coachella before she became a breakout star, coupled with her minimal set design, means she’s not walking away with a big profit.

Speaking on using her own money for her performance, Cardi said:

“I have to invest so much money on my stage set — my own money that I gotta go to Wells Fargo and write a check. That is crazy, like almost 300 thou [$300,000].”

As Coachella heads into its second weekend, the most-anticipated performance is easily from the most talked about man in music, Kanye West. West, is set to bring his popular and viral Sunday Service performance to Coachella on Easter Sunday.
