Gwyneth Paltrow “Keeps It Real” About Her Marriage, “It’s hard being with someone for a long time.”

Our favorite white girl is back! 38 year old, Gwyneth Paltrow, will appear on the cover of Elle Magazine‘s September issue which comes out on August 16th. In the issue, she did an exclusive interview, answering questions about her marriage to Coldplay‘s front-man, Chris Martin. She also answered questions about her career, her real personality and even mentions Beyonce and Jay-Z. Here are some quotes.

On her marriage:

“Sometimes it’s hard being with someone for a long time. We go through periods that aren’t all rosy. I always say ‘life is long and you never know what’s going to happen.’ If, God forbid, we were ever not to be together, I respect him so much as the father of my children. I made such a good choice. He’s such a good dad. You can never be relaxed or smug and think ‘I’ve got this thing.’ That’s also part of it — keeping yourself on your toes. I’m not going to take this for granted.”

After dating both Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck seriously, she finally settled down with her current husband, Chris, and married him in 2003. They have 2 children together, named Apple and Moses.

On her career & how her husband feels about it:

“He makes music for his fans and he doesn’t want people to conjure a lame, famous couple when they’re getting into his music. I get it.” But she does manage to still do small side jobs, like acting appearances on television shows, and still satisfy her husband and kids. She said, “I can do short jobs. If I was still starring in 3 movies every year there’s no way that I’d be the person my kids want when they fall down.”

But when asked about her music career she gave an answer that makes me think we should be looking out for a project from her soon. She said,

“[Beyonce and Jay-Z] think that I should go… in a studio and see what happens. And if it’s good, do it. And if it’s not, don’t. So that’s probably what I’ll do.”

Gwyneth is known well for her success in both acting and singing. She has received various awards, such as the Golden Globe, for her acting and showcased her singing abilities in many of her performances.

She also talked about her website, GOOP

“It’s so much easier to sit at home and not excersize and criticize other people. What I love is inspiring people. People come up to me and say ‘I want to have 2 kids and wear a bathing suit and not feel terrible about myself. I see how hard you work and it makes me feel like I can do that too.'”

She ended the interview  with talk about how her appearance on Chelsea Lately showcased her real personality.

“Doing Chelsea Handler is like doing Howard Stern — you’ve gotta rise to the occasion. It’s good to shock people who think of me as the prim Gwyneth Paltrow. If you speak to my friends who’ve known me since I was 4, they’ll say ‘That is her.’ They always said to me ‘You’re the dirtiest person in the world, and so funny. Show the world that side of you.'”

In my mind, Gywneth’s quotes about her marriage are normal for a relationship. Every couple hits a few rough patches sometimes. So, hopefully we won’t be doing a “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” post anytime soon.
