Keep holding your breath ladies and gents..nothing has been written in stone yet. But in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood, singer and former Waiting To Exhale star Whitney Houston talked about the possibility of a sequel.
“You know what, that Terry McMillan. she keeps calling me about that ‘Waiting To Exhale 2…I guess it’s inevitable. If my three other friends, my three other ladies…I think they’re all in.”
Houston is referring to her Waiting to Exhale co-stars Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine and Lela Rochon. Houston played the role of Savannah Jackson, the “other woman” who hoped that her lover would leave his. Of her character, she believes,
“Savannah has to be, she has to come back.”
The movie was a box office hit back in 1995 and is still widely appreciated today so a sequel will be happily received. Currently, Houston is working on the remake of the movie “Sparkle” which will be her first big screen role in 15 years. The starring role was originally meant for singer Aaliyah before her untimely death. American Idol winner Jordin Sparks now has the role. Houston will play her mother Effie. She says,
“I feel honored; I feel humbled that I am able to still do what I do and it just is fun actually. I think everybody’s going to love this film. I do, I think it’s going to be a loved film.”
The movie is set to be released next year.
