[VIDEO] Jay-Z To Premiere ‘Picasso Baby’ on HBO + Snags Appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher
It was only two weeks ago, when folk were buzzing about the making of Jay-Z’s video for ‘Picasso Baby‘. Incorporating his #NewRules motto, the video went down at New York’s Pace Gallery. Allegedly, the Brooklyn native performed the song for six hours straight (although we’re told that there was never more than a 25-minute or so break in between the tapings) for the shoot. While it was shot in a room full of normal people (like you and I!) a few celebs were present:
(movie producer) Judd Apatow, famous painters (Kehinde Wiley), Fab Five Freddy and actors/actresses Rosie Perez (love her!), Michael K. Williams and DC native Taraji P. Henson.
According to Vibe, the illest ‘celeb’ in the shoot was Marina Abramovi? — the visual performance artist who inspired this interactive set with her MoMA residency, The Artist is Present (reportedly, they had a dance of the minds as Abramovi? pressed her forehead against Jay’s and lead him around the gallery floor). So when do folk get to see the video in it’s entirety? The world premiere exclusive, Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film, debuts Friday, August 2 at 11PM, on HBO. But for now, we’ve got the 31 second teaser:
And as if snagging HBO to debut your video isn’t enough, Mr. Carter is to appear on Real Time with Bill Maher at 10PM, leading into the Picasso Baby world premiere. Nice.
