Casanova’s Interview With Nick Cannon Referenced As Judge Denies Rapper Bail

Casanova’s interview with Nick Cannon could part of the reason he was denied bail.

The rapper is still in custody after prosecutors, while arguing why he should stay behind bars, referenced remarks he made during an interview with Nick Cannon.

In the audio of the hearing, obtained by VladTV, a prosecutor points to Casanova telling Nick Cannon that he was “still ape” and more than a “celebrity ambassador” for the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation gang.

The 2019 interview was mentioned again as the prosecutor said Casanova claimed back then that he was “currently still a member of Gorilla Stone.”

The judge denied his request for bail, ruling that he’s a danger to the community. He will stay behind bars until his trial begins.

Casanova turned himself in at the Midtown South precinct in Manhattan in early December after he was named among 17 other suspects who had already been arrested. He is facing several charges including conspiracy to commit racketeering, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a statement,

“As alleged in the Indictment, members of Gorilla Stone committed terrible acts of violence, trafficked in narcotics, and even engaged in brazen fraud by exploiting benefits programs meant to provide assistance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Casanova has been vocal about not getting the support he wants while in jail. He wrote Sunday (March 14th):

“IF YOU AIN’T SEND ME NO MONEY OR CHECK IN ON ME AND YOU SUPPOSEDLY MY MANS, SUCK MY D*** AND THAT GOES FOR ANYBODY!”
