Nicki Minaj Says She Won’t Get COVID-19 Vaccine Until She Does More Research + Calls Joy-Ann Reid An ‘Uncle Tomiana’ For Criticizing Her

Nicki Minaj didn’t hold back in her tweets about the COVID-19 vaccine!

Yesterday (Monday, Sept. 13th), Nicki Minaj was very active on Twitter, and she addressed some hot-button issues! She initially began by acknowledging a tweet that pointed out it had been over a year since her last public appearance. Nicki Minaj quote tweeted it and wrote:

“I have an infant with no nannies during COVID. who mad? Not risking his health to be seen. One yaself.”

She then acknowledged an Instagram Story upload by an account that was attempting to pass as the Met Gala’s official page. The original upload read:

“Update: @NickiMinaj will no longer be attending the Met Gala tonight. We confirmed both Kylie & Nicki earlier today because they both were previously confirmed, but both have sadly pulled out at the last minute. We hope & wish them well.”

In response, Nicki Minaj uploaded a screenshot of it to Twitter and wrote:

“Y’all rlly believed this is met gala?”

The 38-year-old rapper then proceeded to interact with various followers and fan accounts. While doing so, Nicki doubled-down on her stance and began to speak on the COVID-19 vaccine. She also revealed she got diagnosed with COVID while preparing for the VMAs:

“I was prepping for VMAs then I shot a video & guess who got COVID? Do u know what it is [like to] not be able to kiss or hold your tiny baby for over a week? A baby who is only used to his mama? ‘get vaccinated’ Drake had just told me he got COVID w/ THE VACCINE tho so chile.”

Nicki Minaj continued, claiming that–while she’s unvaccinated–she did not get more intense symptoms. After a follower claimed unvaccinated people are much more likely to die of COVID, she tweeted:

“That’s not true. I had the exact same symptoms as ppl with the d*** vaccine.”

She then explicitly stated she won’t get vaccinated until she has “done enough research” on the matter:

“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated it won’t be for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grip your head & face. Not that loose one.”

Then, after a follower claimed the blogs would “drag her,” Nicki Minaj proclaimed:

“Who cares what blogs gon do? Y’all always worried about blogs. This is my real fckn life. They can choke.”

Nicki then proceeded to tell a cautionary tale about what happened to her cousin’s friend in Trinidad after getting vaccinated. She wrote:

“My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”

She then pointed out that, because other countries are requiring people to get the vaccine to work, she’d encourage those people to get vaccinated. Nicki Minaj also revealed that, because she has to go on tour soon, she’ll probably end up getting vaccinated as well. She tweeted:

“A lot of countries won’t let ppl work w/o the vaccine. I’d def recommend they get the vaccine. They have to feed their families. I’m sure I’ll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc.”

Shortly thereafter, Nicki Minaj began asking for her followers’ input regarding which vaccine to get.

She then briefly jumped to her Instagram Story and acknowledged the fact that she was trending on Twitter for her comments.

At this point, Nicki Minaj switched gears and and addressed some comments about her tweets. Specifically, Nicki responded to remarks Joy-Ann Reid made on her show, The ReidOutJoy-Ann Reid originally stated:

“I have to say this: you have a platform, sista, that is 22 million followers. I have 2 million followers. You have 22 million followers on Twitter. For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives? My God sista, you can do better than that! You got that platform–it’s a blessing. It’s a blessing that you got that. That people listen to you. For you to use your platform to put people in the position of dying from a disease they don’t have to die from? Oh my God! As a fan, as a hip-hop fan, as somebody who’s your fan, I am so sad that you did that. So sad that you did that, sista. Oh my God.”

In response, Nicki Minaj quote tweeted a clip of Joy-Ann Reid‘s comments and wrote:

“The two white men sittin there nodding their heads cuz this uncle tomiana doing the work chile. How sad.”

Nicki Minaj continued to speak on Joy-Ann Reid, writing:

“This is what happens when you’re so thirsty to down another black woman (by the request of the white man), that you didn’t bother to read all my tweets. ‘My God SISTER do better’ imagine getting ur dumb a** on tv a min after a tweet to spread a false narrative about a black woman.”

Nicki then called out Joy-Ann Reid for allegedly overlooking the truth and said she was a “lying homophobic c**n.” She also claimed Joy-Ann previously questioned whether the U.S. FDA could be trusted.

Nicki Minaj then notably told Meghan McCain to “eat s**t” for making a comment about her aforementioned cautionary tale.

The rapper ended her Twitter tirade by simply tweeting a laughing emoji.
