Kendrick Lamar Speculated To Drop New Album As Unreleased Song Leaks Online + Rapper Updates Spotify Profile Photo For First Time Since 2017

Is Kendrick Lamar preparing to drop a new album?

Yesterday (Wednesday, Oct. 20th), various snippets of unreleased Kendrick Lamar songs began circulating around social media–specifically Twitter and TikTok. You can listen to one of the more widely-circulated leaks, titled “Therapy Session #9”, down below:

In addition to the song leaks, some fans also noticed that the Compton native had updated his Spotify photo for the first time since 2017–which is also the year he released DAMN., his most recent studio album.

Resultingly, many fans began to speculate that Kendrick Lamar may be preparing to release new music soon. This theory was further supported by people pointing out that tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 22nd) is the nine-year anniversary of the album that catapulted the rapper to mainstream success: good kid, m.A.A.d city. The album was led by hit songs like “Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst” and “Poetic Justice.”

Additionally, others pointed out that Kendrick Lamar was recently announced to perform at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show and the upcoming Day N Vegas music festival. It’s also worth noting that he registered several new songs with ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers) last month–further adding to the speculation.

Kendrick Lamar has not publicly acknowledged the matter.
