Gayle King Tests Positive for COVID, Says When She Found Out She Collapsed To The Floor & Had To Be Picked Up
It looks like Covid-19 has made its way to yet another morning talk show.
“CBS Mornings” star Gayle King co-hosted the show from a studio van on Thursday (Feb.10) after she and fellow anchor Vlad Duthiers tested positive for COVID-19. Despite the positive diagnosis, King was determined to still make an appearance on-air, event if that meant being in a mobile van.
During Thursday’s broadcast, the 67-year-old journalist explains that she is shocked by the positive Covid test because she’s been very careful throughout the pandemic.
“I’ve been so freaking careful. I just couldn’t believe it.. I had a positive PCR, a negative antigen. Then, we’ve since taken multiple [tests], they’ve all been negative. Everybody on my team is negative. I don’t even know how to explain this.”

She continued,
“I just got off the phone with my doctor, she said Gayle you’re fine just put on your mask and carry on. But it is very, very jarring, I have to say.”

Gayle King was so shocked by the results, she said that she collapsed to the floor and had to “literally be picked up” off the ground by Shawna Thomas, who is executive producer of “CBS Mornings.”
This news comes just weeks after Gayle signed a new contract with CBS that will keep her at the Tiffany Network for the foreseeable future. During a recent interview, Gayle King said,
“I officially signed on the dotted line. So I will be with CBS a little bit longer.”
King, who reportedly earns $13 million per year, gained interest from several major networks, including CNN former boss Jeff Zucker. Zucker had hopes that King would be interested in in taking over the 9 p.m. time slot that has been vacant since the firing of Chris Cuomo last month.

Gayle King was supposed to head to Los Angeles for a much needed vacation on Friday (Feb.11), which she said she’s “still hoping to do.”
