Rick Ross – Several Of His Wingstop Locations Fined Over $100k For Labor Violations After Illegally Forcing Employees To Pay For Uniforms, Training, & Cash Register Shortages

Rap star Rick Ross and a few family members recently found themselves in trouble with the law.

According to reports, several of the rappers Mississippi based Wingstop locations were fined a total $114,427 due to labor violations. Fees reportedly included “back wages, liquidated damages and civil penalties”. Violations discovered by the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division reportedly revealed that Wingstop illegally required employees pay for uniforms and training among other things. Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts, along with his mother Tommie Roberts and his sister Tawanda Roberts are reportedly listed as the owners of Boss Wings Enterprises LLC in Mississippi, where the violations took place.

Reportedly, the DLWHD investigation uncovered multiple of the wing restaurant chains illegally withholding money from employees. In certain instances, reports state unlawful deductions caused several employee paychecks to fall under the minimum hourly wage of $7.25. Additionally, the DLWHD claims the Wingstop locations illegally deducted money for background checks and cash register shortages. As well as allowed a 15-year-old employee to work past 10 p.m. on multiple occasions. Despite it being illegal for 14 and 15 years old to work past 7 p.m.

Audrey Hall, the Jackson Mississippi he DLWHD, reportedly stated on the matter:

“Restaurant industry employees work hard, often for low wages, and many depend on every dollar earned to make ends meet….The law prevents Boss Wing Enterprises LLC from shifting operating costs to workers by deducting the costs of uniforms, cash register shortages or training expenses, or to allow a worker’s pay to fall below the minimum wage rate.”
