Trump Removed From Colorado’s 2024 Presidency Ballot For His Role In The Deadly 2021 Capitol Riot

Donald Trump may be ineligible to rerun for president in 2024.

Former President Donald Trump may not get a second chance to make America great again. Reportedly, the Colorado Supreme Court removed Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn’t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.” As previously reported, The US House of Representatives impeached Donald Trump for “incitement of insurrection” at the 2021 Capitol riot, where trespassers unlawfully stormed the capitol allegedly at Trump’s urging. Seemingly a final attempt to overturn the 2020 election, the mayhem ended with multiple arrests and five fatalities. Trump was later found “not guilty” and acquitted of the charges.

Trump’s acquittal of the second attempt impeachment seems not to be the end-all and be-all for the candidate hopeful as his role in the deadly events that took place on the capitol steps has not been forgotten. Making the first ruling of its kind by removing Trump from political consideration, Colorado understands that all won’t be happy with their decision; the state’s supreme court judges stated,

“We are also cognizant that we travel in uncharted territory.”

They added,

“We do not reach these conclusions lightly. We are mindful of the magnitude and weight of the questions now before us. We are likewise mindful of our solemn duty to apply the law, without fear or favor, and without being swayed by public reaction to the decisions that the law mandates we reach.”

Once news of the decision to omit Trump from the 2024 ballot was announced, X (formally Twitter) erupted, with followers sharing split views on the outcome.

One user replied,

“Wow. They’re playing dirty now.”

Another commented,

“It’s election interference. It needs to go to the SCOTUS.”

Others responded,

Shortly after the news of Trump’s ineligibility status, number 45’s campaign issued the following statement,

“Unsurprisingly, the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice. Democrat Party leaders are in a state of paranoia over the growing, dominant lead President Trump has amassed in the polls. They have lost faith in the failed Biden presidency and are now doing everything they can to stop the American voters from throwing them out of office next November. The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision tonight and we will swiftly file an appeal to the United States Supreme Court and a concurrent request for a stay of this deeply undemocratic decision. We have full confidence that the U.S. Supreme Court will quickly rule in our favor and finally put an end to these unAmerican lawsuits.”

The ruling seems pivotal, but all is not lost in Trump’s conquest to rule the nation. Reportedly, the 4-3 ruling marked the first time a court has kept a presidential candidate off the ballot under an 1868 provision of the Constitution that prevents insurrectionists from holding office. If other states reach the same conclusion, Trump would have difficulty securing the Republican nomination and winning in November, but it is still not impossible.
