Cissy Houston Allegedly Diagnosed With Dementia
As if dealing with the death of her daughter, iconic singer Whitney Houston, and her grand-daughter Bobbi Kristina-Brown wasn’t enough – Cissy Houston is said to be fighting another battle. According to BET (via Radar Online), the Grammy-award winning gospel singer was reportedly diagnosed with dementia. A source provided details on the Houston family matriarch’s condition:
She’s in the early stages of dementia…She repeats herself a lot and doesn’t remember what she says. She just says she’s getting old.
Apparently, the shock of the alleged molestation of her children Whitney and Gary by cousin Dee Dee Warwick, is also taking a toll on her health. The source continued:
The family is already fractured enough, but she has had enough clarity to know what’s going on with these claims and is very upset.
As we previously reported, Cissy did not learn of the molestation allegations until the Whitney documentary was released. The source also revealed that the molestation claims have cuased her to cut her son, Gary, off. The sourced detailed:
Cissy called him and told him ‘I’m cutting you out of my will,’ and hung up the phone.
They continued:
Gary never brought up these accusations before and the family doesn’t believe him… They think it was used to just drum up publicity for the film.
Cissy Houston released a statement, repsonding to the allegations:
We cannot overstate the shock and horror we feel and the difficulty we have believing that my niece Dee Dee Warwick . . . molested two of my three children. Neither Whitney nor Dee Dee are here to deny, refute or affirm. . . How can that be fair to my daughter, to Dee Dee, to our family?
We’re sending love and light to the Houston family, and good health to Cissy Houston.
