Nicki Minaj Goes After Gov. Gavin Newsom in Blunt Post: “Imagine Being the Guy Running on Wanting to See Trans Kids
Nicki Minaj went on a lengthy early-morning posting spree, sharing a series of pointed messages that appear to be directed at California Governor Gavin Newsom, repeatedly referring to him as “Gav” and “Gavin” while criticizing politics, a possible “race,” and what she framed as misplaced priorities.
In one post, Minaj wrote, “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids.” She followed with a string of short remarks that read, “Not Gav,” “The Gav Nots,” and “GavOUT,” before adding, “Send in the next guy, I’m bored.” The post was paired with an image of the fictional character Chucky.
She continued the commentary in another post, writing, “Gavin is the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was.” Minaj went on to mock his appearance and confidence, adding, “Oohhh look @’m. Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on.” She then compared him to a movie star, writing, “He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible. He should get another leading role.” That post was also accompanied by an image of Chucky.
Minaj later escalated her remarks with another message posted early this morning, writing, “Oh Gavvy pooh, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy.” She added, “It’s the end of the road for you, my love.” The rapper then suggested a change in direction, writing, “Get on the nearest jet ski & let that beautiful hair blow in the wind.”
She closed the post by referencing what she described as a political contest, stating, “It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace.” Once again, the message was paired with an image of Chucky, reinforcing the mocking tone seen throughout the posts.
Minaj did not explicitly name Gavin Newsom, but the repeated use of “Gavin,” references to a “race,” and political framing led many online to interpret the posts as aimed at the California governor. As of now, Newsom has not publicly responded.
