Actress Gabby Sidibe Checks Critics Over Her Toddlers’ Hair – “I Didn’t Have Kids For The Esthetic
Gabby Sidibe is making it clear that unsolicited parenting commentary — especially about her toddlers’ hair — won’t be getting a warm welcome.
In a viral Threads post that pulled more than 217K views, the actress and mom addressed followers who’ve been leaving comments about her children’s hair, warning that anyone telling her to “do” their hair is getting blocked. Sidibe explained that their hair is brushed, but reminded people that they’re active toddlers who play hard, get food in their hair during lunch, and often end up messy shortly after it’s done.
Being transparent about the day-to-day chaos of motherhood, Sidibe shared that her daughter’s hair is braided every week, but she doesn’t immediately redo it the second it starts looking fuzzy. Her reasoning? She said she didn’t have kids for the “esthetic,” making it clear that perfectly manicured appearances are far from the priority in her household.
She doubled down in a follow-up post, saying she’s already “fighting for my life” and has no interest in trying to impress social media with constantly polished children. Instead, she made it plain that surviving mom life comes first — not performing perfection for the timeline.
Still, Sidibe ended things on a lighter note, revealing that her son Aaron will be stepping out with fresh box braids for his birthday trip to Punta Cana, proving that while she’s not here for outside pressure, she’s still going to do what works best for her family on her own terms.
