Obama Speaks Out After R*cist Al Video Shared By Trump – “I’d Never Talk About Somebody’s Family That Way”
Barack Obama is addressing backlash after a racist AI-generated video depicting him and his wife circulated online and was shared on Truth Social by Donald Trump.
Speaking on the controversy, Obama made it clear that while he doesn’t take personal attacks to heart, his family is a different story.
“I don’t take it personally. I mean, I’m always offended when my wife and kids get dragged into things, because they didn’t choose this,” he said. “That’s a line that even people whose politics I deeply reject, I would expect them to care about. I would never talk about somebody’s family in that way.”
He went on to address broader concerns about the use of AI-generated content, particularly videos that blur reality and push harmful narratives.
“I mean, I’m a fair target in the sense of, yeah, you can feel free to pick on me, because I’m your own size,” he said.
Obama also pointed to other AI videos circulating online that depict serious issues like war “like a video game” and show “excrement dumped on ordinary citizens,” warning about the direction this type of content is heading.
Despite the controversy, Obama suggested that while these moments gain attention, they don’t reflect how most people actually think.
“You know, it is true that it gets attention. It’s true that it’s a distraction. But, you know, as I’m traveling around the country… you meet people. They still believe in decency, courtesy, kindness.”
He added that the tone online and in media has shifted in a way that reflects a loss of standards.
“And there’s this sort of clown show that’s happening in social media and on television. And what is true is that there doesn’t seem to be any shame about this among people who used to feel like you had to have some sort of decorum. And a sense of propriety and respect for the office, right? So that’s been lost.”
