UPDATED: Zimmerman Juror Has Change of Heart, Pulls Out of Book Deal & Releases Statement
D*mn, that was quick! We’ve heard George Zimmerman’s side and now, almost 48 hours after jurors gave Zimmerman his freedom, we’re now hearing from one of the jurors. According to USA Today, literary agent named Sharlene Martin, says she has signed one of the jurors in the George Zimmerman trial to write a book about her experience on the panel. The juror’s name has not yet been released, but they are known only as B-37, her official court designation during the trial.
Martin says in a statement that the juror will write the book with her husband, an attorney:
My hope is that people will read Juror B37’s book, written with her attorney husband, and understand the commitment it takes to serve and be sequestered on a jury in a highly publicized murder trial and how important, despite one’s personal viewpoints, it is to follow the letter of the law. It could open a whole new dialogue about laws that may need to be revised and revamped to suit a 21st century way of life.
The agent continued:
The reader will also learn why the jurors had no option but to find Zimmerman Not Guilty due to the manner in which he was charged and the content of the jury instructions.
According to the agent, the budding writer/juror, contacted her on Sunday, one day after the verdict was returned. She says a high-ranking producer from one of the morning shows referred the juror to her. What are your thoughts–are you interested in hearing a story, penned by a juror in the case?
**UPDATED 7/16/13; 3 a.m. PST.**It appears Juror B37 has had a change of heart an no longer wants to pen a book. The jurors agent released the following statement, on behalf of the juror:
