Actress Ruby Dee Dies At the Age of 91
At the tender age of 91, Ruby Dee has died. According to CNN, the award-winning actress died peacefully at her New Rochelle, New York, home on Wednesday.
Dee — often with her late husband, Ossie Davis — was well known in the civil rights movement. She was friends with Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. Dee’s husband passed in 2005.
Dee earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in “American Gangster”. She also won an Emmy and Grammy for other work. Details about her memorial have not yet been released.
