‘Keep a Child Alive’ Black Ball: Kanye West, Diddy, Madonna, Russell Simmons, Nas, Lala Anthony, Selita Ebanks, Aretha Franklin [Photos]
Last night (October 30th), the 9th Annual Keep A Child Alive Black Ball Gala took place in New York City.
The Black Ball is an annual fundraiser gala for Keep a Child Alive, the non-profit organization which brings dignified treatment, care and support to children and families affected by HIV.
The event brings celebrity and philanthropy together to fulfill hopes, dreams and raise funds for children and families affected by HIV in Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and India.
The event was hosted by co-founder Alicia Keys, who was also the musical director. Co-hosts included Alicia’s hubby, Swizz Beatz and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. This year, designer Riccardo Tisci was honored for his contributions to the cause. Performances included Alicia Keys, David Byrne, Nas and Angel Haze.
Other celebrity guests caught hitting the red carpet and snapping photos included Russell Simmons, Kanye West, Lala Anthony, Po Johnson, Selita Ebanks, Alek Wek, Padma Lakshmi, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, Clive Davis, Mari Malek, Joan Smalls, Andre Leon Talley, Estelle, Angie Beyince, Jeannette Jenkins and others.
