(EXCLUSIVE) Three 6 Mafia – Juicy J & DJ Paul Settle Lawsuit Accusing Them of Music Theft
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J & DJ Paul have reached a settlement in the legal battle accusing them of stealing another man’s music – without paying him a dime – and the case has been closed following a year of battling in court.
A man named Reggie Boyland — the owner of a rap music label – filed a federal lawsuit against Juicy J and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia. The lawsuit accused the band of copyright infringement by sampling “Pimps In The House” and “Listen to the Lyrics” by 8Ball & MJG, which Boyland says he owns the rights to both songs.
The suit accused Three 6 Mafia of sampling the songs on their 2nd album Chapter 1: The End, in the song “Where Da Bud” and on their 3rd album Chapter 2: World Domination. Boyland said they did not have permission to sample the music he owns and he sued for unspecified damages and an injunction against the group from continuing to distribute the music.
