Shonda Rhimes In Talks To Produce ‘Dare Divas’ Movie
She’s conquered TV and the big screen is the next move for Shonda Rhimes. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 is in negotiations for the life rights of the online personalities known as the Dare Divas, with Rhimes and her Shondaland topper Betsy Beers also in talks to produce a movie based on the lives of the Detroit group of friends who are devoted to living their lives to the fullest. The site reports,
Rhimes and Beers will produce under their Shondaland production banner. The Dare Divas is the latest big studio project for the company that is responsible for ABC dramas Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, among others.
The Dare Divas were formed after Sheri Hunter lost her husband suddenly and, when counseling didn’t work for her, decided to deal with her grief by having experiences that made her appreciate life. She recruited three of her closest friends, Angenette, Brenda and Mia, and undertook a worldwide trip. They continued their wild ways, going skydiving, race car driving, white water rafting, cliff diving, and more traveling.
ShondaLand is the name of Rhimes’s production company. ShondaLand and its logo also refer to the shows that Rhimes has created, and to Rhimes herself. Shows which are included in ShondaLand are: Grey’s Anatomy (2005–present), Private Practice (2007–2013), Off the Map (2011), Scandal (2012–present), How to Get Away with Murder (2014–present)
and The Catch (2016–present).
