Bill Bellamy is a legend in the comedy game and also has had many scriptwriting credits under his belt from “Booty Call” to “How to be a Player. ” And now his latest movie, “The Bounce Back” starring him and former Criminal Minds hottie Shemar Moore, has hit theaters. Recently, theJasmineBRAND.com correspondent Elle Marie, spoke with the veteran comedian on his new film, his longevity in the movie industry and the craziest rumor he’s heard about himself.Peep some of the excerpts.
On the premise of the “The Bounce Back”:
I’m the funniest manager—best friend ever. Shemar and I are best friends in this movie. He is a relationship guru and he wrote this book called The Bounce Back. He’s winning with it and the book is taking off but he don’t have no girl and I’m like ‘Dog! You can’t be no relationship guru without no relationship.’ So we trying to get him chicks and it ain’t working out and he ends up meeting Nadine Velaquez who is a therapist, who is kind of confrontational in the beginning. They slowly start to like each other and I’m in the way. And I’m try to block him but you can’t block love.
On having longevity in this business:
Ummmm…..Shea butter. (laughs) You gotta have Shea butter, that is the key. People walk right by Shea butter and get the lotion. You gotta have Shea butter! No—we just work, hard work. I always keep the energy there, I’m very passionate, I wanna make y’all laugh, I want y’all to have a good time and that’s been my secret. Like really try to entertain people. So I pick my projects wisely and when I do it, I do it.
On the craziest rumor he has heard about himself:
The craziest rumor I ever heard about myself—ummm, I don’t know, I don’t know. The craziest rumor is people say, “ He didn’t create Booty Call!” Uhhhh…yea I did. Do your homework, history books, right here!
On what he wants for Christmas:
I just want more health, more success, more peace and happiness.
