President Donald Trump Is Impeached, He Responds: PRESIDENTIAL HARASSMENT!
President Donald Trump has officially been impeached. And many are wondering what it actually means, and what’s next.
Wednesday (Dec. 19), the House of Representatives voted 230-197 to officially charge Donald Trump with abuse of power. He was also charged with obstruction of justice based on a 229-198 vote.
It was previously reported that Donald Trump was facing impeachment after he allegedly withheld $400 million in federal funds from Ukraine amid his request for the President, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate the family, specifically the son, of Presidential candidate and former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
Now, impeachment inquiry have been turned into official charges against him, making him the third President in U.S. history to be impeached. Before him, President Bill Clinton was impeached in 1998 for obstruction of justice after he allegedly lied about having an affair in the Oval Office. President Richard Nixon was impeached for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress.
Still, Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon were never removed from office. And depending on the next steps, the same could hold true for Trump.
The trial will head to the Senate next month, and U.S. Senators will have to vote on whether to convict Trump and remove him from office.
Meanwhile, Trump has responded on Twitter.
He first said that no Republicans voted for him to be impeached, and seemed to find hope in that. Still, he alluded to suffering Presidential harassment, before pinning a cryptic tweet to the top of his page.
