Radio Hosts Fired After Making Controversial Remarks On The Air & Asking ‘Were They Acting N-Wordish?’
Robert J. Morgan, President of iHeart Media made an announcement early Wednesday (June 3rd) that the company has fired Radio 95.1 (WAIO-FM) hosts Kimberly Ray and Barry Beck, known as Kimberly and Beck after they made extremely controversial statements on their show.
The hosts were speaking about an alleged assault with another unknown contributor. The contributor was explaining the alleged assault, stating,
“You can hear a fourth man also confirm that you know, she called them the N-word, that’s when they really went after her.”
Kimberly Ray jumped in with a controversial question of her own. She asked,
“Okay, let me ask you a question. Were they acting N-wordish? There’s your question.”
A man believed to be Barry Beck chimes in on the conversation stating,
“They were acting thuggerly-like. I think they’re thugs.”
Kimberly reiterates,
“Were they acting N-wordly?”
The unknown male contributor reacts stating,
“You can’t say that. What are you doing? You can’t say that.”
The three hosts begin over talking one another with opinions when Barry Ray exclaims,
“They’re thugs! If you look like a thug and if you act like a thug and you’ve got three on one and beating up a white woman with a two-by-four, by God you’re a thug!”
Kimberly Ray piggybacks on his comment by saying,
“And by the way, there are people in the black community who would say ‘they’re acting N-wordly’.”
Again, the unknown man quickly jumps in with,
“But they can say that, you can’t say that.”
People all across social media were furious with the hosts and called on iHeart Radio to take action against the hosts.
@iHeartRadio you need to take action on this IMMEDIATELY!! These people are f*cking disguesting! Wtf is “acting n-wordly” any way?? @Radio_951 #KimberlyandBeck twitter.com/ThePerezHilton

iHeart quickly tweeted that Kimberly and Beck have been fired.

Twitter reacted to the news shortly after:

This isn’t the first time the duo has been in hot water. Kimberly and Beck were fired in 2014 after making hateful comments about transgender people live on air.
Racial tension has been heightened in the recent event following the death of George Floyd with protests happening, reportedly in all 50 states.
