‘Pop, Lock, & Drop It’ Rapper Huey Reportedly Dies In Shooting [CONDOLENCES]
Sad news for the St. Louis hip-hop community. Rapper Huey (real name, Lawrence Franks, Jr.) has reportedly passed away at the young age of 31. According to the KTVI, the rapper – famous for his 2007 hit, “Pop, Lock, & Drop It” – was the victim of a shooting.
Huey reportedly suffered one fatal gunshot wound and was proclaimed dead at a local hospital. The shooting reportedly took place on the 8100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Kinloch, Missouri, in which a second male victim was also treated at a local hospital. St. Louis Police Sergeant Benjamin Granda issued this statement:
“The identity of a victim of a homicide will not be provided until that identity is positively confirmed and their next of kin notified.”
Though St. Louis County Police haven’t officially identified him, friends and relatives spread the news on social media.

Huey’s Jive Records release, “Pop, Lock & Drop It,” eventually peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 2007.
