Actor John Boyega Says He’s Open To Playing James Bond: Let’s Show Them Something Different
British actor John Boyega, best known for playing Finn in the Star Wars films: The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019), is ready for another popular role. In a recent interview, he said that he is open to the idea of being the next James Bond.

Letitia Wright
Black Panther star and John Boyega‘s Small Axe co-star Letitia Wright, previously suggested that he would be great for the role.
“I say Boyega because I know he would love it.”
She even said he’d be better over Daniel Craig, who has recently taken on the role.
“Daniel would do the work and stay behind – he likes to stay low key, so that’s too much [for him]. He can still play Bond too, but I know John Boyega would just… yeah.”

Although John Boyega previously felt as though he was too young to play the role, once he caught wind of Letitia Wright’s comments he said:
“Ooh! Hey, listen. [With] Steve McQueen directing? Let’s do this. We can show them something different . We [would] still bring that sophistication .James Bond has to be James Bond – but we could do something with that.”

Idris Elba
Earlier this year there was talk of Idris Elba becoming the next James Bond. Idris Elba’s Cats co-star Judi Dench said she believes it could actually happen.
In a recent interview, Judi Dench said,
“I knew he was up for it and in ‘Cats’ I had the line to him ‘You’ll never get to Heaviside Layer’ but, during rehearsals, I said, ‘you’ll never get to MI6’.
She added,
“But I think he might.”
If Idris Elba lands the role, he’ll be the first Black actor to ever do so in the history of the franchise.
“You just get disheartened when you get people from a generational point of view going, ‘It can’t be.’ And it really turns out to be the color of my skin. And then if I get it and it didn’t work, or it did work, would it be because of the color of my skin? That’s a difficult position to put myself into when I don’t need to.”
Interestingly enough, he said he never actually went for the role, but certainly wouldn’t turn it down if it was presented to him.
“James Bond is a hugely coveted, iconic, beloved character, that takes audiences on this massive escapism journey. Of course, if someone said to me ‘Do you want to play James Bond?,’ I’d be like, Yeah! That’s fascinating to me. But it’s not something I’ve expressed, like, yeah, I wanna be the black James Bond.”
