50 Cent Leaves New York City, Moves To Houston As Texas Governor Lifts COVID-19 Restrictions
Rapper 50 Cent [Curtis Jackson], and a wave of other Americans are fleeing New York after complaining about Covid-19 restrictions and high taxes. On May 4th, he announced his decision to relocate from New York to Houston in a Twitter post captioned:
“I love NY, but I live in Houston now I’ll explain later.”
50 Cent first announced his plans to leave the Big Apple in March when the governor of Texas, Greg Abbot, vowed to lift mask mandates and other Covid-19 related lockdown restrictions. 50 Cent took to Instagram with a post of the Texas governor announcing his decision and wrote:
“I’m headed to Texas, f**k this.”
Throughout the pandemic, 50 Cent’s brazen attitude and public disregard for Covid rules and restrictions have been newsworthy. In February, he hosted a huge Super Bowl party in an aircraft hanger in St. Petersburg, Florida.
50 Cent’s move also comes after he complained about taxes in New York City.
In October, he acknowledged his support of former president Donald Trump. He revealed he’d be voting for Donald Trump in an effort to circumvent Joe Biden’s tax policies for the wealthiest Americans.
50 Cent took to Twitter with a post and caption:
“What the f**k! (Vote for Trump) I’m OUT. F**k New York, the KNICKS never win anyway. I don’t care Trump doesn’t like black people. 62% are you out of ya f**king mind.”
Other celebrities like Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk and Comedian/Host Joe Rogan, have also reportedly fled New York to Texas to evade paying more taxes.
