Jelani Day’s Death Ruled As Drowning In Latest Autopsy Report
New details surrounding the death of Illinois State University graduate student Jelani Day are being released. In an autopsy conducted by LaSalle County Coroner’s Office, Jelani Day reportedly died from drowning.

The 25-year-old college student was reported missing by his parents back in August of this year. He was last seen on Aug. 24th, with his car was found two days later. Jelani Day’s body was found floating in the Illinois River on Sept. 4th but his body was not identified until Sept. 23.
Coroner Richard Ploch said,
“Unfortunately, there is no specific positive test at autopsy for drowning. Drowning is considered a diagnosis of exclusion with supporting investigation circumstances when a person is found deceased in a body of water.”
Although it is still unknown as to how Day ended up in the river, according to the coroner there was no evidence of an assault, altercation, or strangulation to his body.

It’s important to mention that when Days body was found, his items were also found scattered around the same area.
