Jay-Z Plans NYC Benefit Concert, “Kids Are Going To Need An Education.”

On Thursday, Jay-Z announced that he was kicking off 2012 with a charity concert. On Feb 6-7, Jay-Z will hold two benefit concerts in NYC at Carnegie Hall. The proceeds from the concert will assist in raising money for college scholarships and the United Way, aimed at reducing the dropout rate amongst, NYC teens.
In an interview, Jay-Z explained,
“There was a ton of blue-collar jobs that no longer exist, and the gap is wider than ever, and the kids need to really know that and be prepared…To really succeed in this new America they are going to need an education. Not everyone can be entertainers and hit the lottery — that’s what I call it.”
Most tickets will range in price between $500 and $2,500, while some will be available to the general public (those go on sale, Jan. 30).
